The Power of Whakaaro (Thoughts)

Over the last term the tamariki in Te Pou a Tuu worked on explanations about Whakaaro Pai.  A whakaaro pai is a good thought.  Here are a couple of stories to explain the students thoughts about Whakaaro (Thoughts).

The power your thoughts hold.

The power your thoughts hold all depend on the will and meaning. It depends if you choose to listen to them or not. If you think about something for a while, or pay attention to a certain thought, you're feeding that thought power, giving it a greater effect on you.
If you choose not to dwell on a thought, and occupy your mind with different things, that thought is losing its power over you, and won't affect anyone.
Thoughts are like a battery: it won't work without the negative, and it won't work without the positive- you need both to keep the balance. If the balance is not kept between the two,  your focus will weigh on one side only, tipping the balance and slowly collapsing. Both negative and positive thoughts are needed- with out one, there can be no other.
Your thoughts have the ability to give you many things. They can give you the encouragement that might be needed; they can give you the motivation and control. The power, control and everything else lay within your thoughts. If you think you can do something, you can- as long as the will is in it. The same goes for your negativity- you have the power to share that as well,
If you feed the positive thoughts, they will become part of your mind and actions, and will make people around you feel better. Again, the negative counts in this- it all depends on which side you choose.
